The Sultan Thaf Sinar Basarsyah Grand Mosque in Deli Serdang Regency is an example of modern Islamic architecture that uses ornamentation, building form, and spatial composition to combine Islamic principles with Malay culture. Research on the features of this mosque's architectural elements based on architectural composition theory is still scarce, despite the fact that it has grown to be a religious tourist destination and a regional icon. Using Rob Krier's idea from his book Architectural Composition (1988), this study seeks to identify the Sultan Thaf Sinar Basarsyah Grand Mosque's architectural components. A descriptive method with a qualitative approach was the research methodology employed. Field observations, documentation, literature reviews, and interviews were used as primary data collection methods. Books, journals, and maps of the study site were used as secondary data. In order to conduct the analysis, the architectural elements that Rob Krier described, such as roofs, walls, columns, openings, floors, ceilings, staircases, and ornamentation  were identified. Their form, material, color, proportion, and composition were then examined in relation to mosque architecture. It is anticipated that the study's findings would show how these architectural components create a harmonic composition while capturing the essence of modern Islamic architecture that is influenced by Malay culture. In addition to contributing to the advancement of research on architectural composition and the preservation of mosque architecture in Indonesia, this study is anticipated to serve as a scientific documentation of the Sultan Thaf Sinar Basarsyah Grand Mosque's architectural character.
