Seeing the vulnerability and the many cases of violence experienced by journalists in carrying out their duties as part of the pillars of democracy as well as seeing how the important role of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) in protecting journalists who are victims of persecution, this research focuses on the problem of how legal protection of journalists according to Indonesian positive law, and how the form of legal protection provided by LPSK in the case of persecution of Tempo journalist Nurhadi. The writing of this thesis uses a normative juridical approach method, through a statutory approach, historical approach and case approach. Data sources are obtained through primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials which are then presented descriptively qualitatively. The results of this study show that the protection and guarantee of legal certainty for journalists in Indonesia have been regulated in Law Number 40 of 1999 concerning the Press. While the form of legal protection for journalists who are victims of persecution, in this case Nurhadi by LPSK is in the form of physical and psychological protection, fulfillment of procedural rights, and assistance in fighting for restitution rights.
