Antiretroviral (ARV) is a drug that inhibits the replication of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), and has a cluster of differential 4 (CD4) receptor on the surface of its cells. HIV has become a global pandemic that affects various levels of society around people with HIV. Compliance with taking antiretrovirals can indicate the success of the Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) program resulting in a significant increase in CD4 levels.

The research design used a correlational research design by collecting data from HIV patients at Banten District Hospital with CD4 levels of less than 200 cells/uI who were undergoing ARV therapy and then measuring the patient's level of compliance in taking ARV medication.

Based on the results of the correlation test value between compliance and the increase in CD4 levels after giving ARVs, a correlation value of 0.574 was obtained, which is positive, indicating that there is a strong relationship between the two variables, where the higher the compliance, the higher the CD4 levels. Meanwhile, the significance value is 0.003, indicating that there is a significant or meaningful relationship between compliance and CD4 levels, where the higher the compliance, the higher the CD4 levels.
