PENGELOLAAN SAMPAH KIRIMAN LAUT DI PESISIR UNTUK MENGATASI KRISIS SAMPAH PLASTIK DAN MENJAGA KEBERLANGSUNGAN EKOSISTEM LAUT

Abstrak

Program pengabdian masyarakat ini mengkaji strategi pengelolaan sampah kiriman laut di pesisir Kelurahan Tanjung Laut Indah, Kota Bontang, dalam upaya mengatasi krisis sampah plastik dan menjaga keberlanjutan ekosistem laut. Sampah plastik yang terbawa arus laut menjadi ancaman serius bagi ekosistem pesisir dan kehidupan sosial-ekonomi masyarakat yang bergantung pada sumber daya laut. Meskipun terdapat beberapa program pengelolaan sampah dari pemerintah daerah, partisipasi masyarakat masih perlu ditingkatkan. Melalui metode penyuluhan dan diskusi yang melibatkan berbagai pemangku kepentingan, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan keterlibatan masyarakat dalam pengelolaan sampah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan partisipasi masyarakat, kesadaran lingkungan, serta penguatan regulasi dan fasilitas pendukung sangat penting untuk mengatasi permasalahan sampah plastik di pesisir. Upaya ini tidak hanya berfokus pada mitigasi dampak ekologis, tetapi juga pada peningkatan kesejahteraan masyarakat setempat.

This community service program examines the strategy for managing marine waste on the coast of Tanjung Laut Indah Village, Bontang City, in an effort to overcome the plastic waste crisis and maintain the sustainability of the marine ecosystem. Plastic waste carried by ocean currents poses a serious threat to coastal ecosystems and the socio-economic life of communities that depend on marine resources. Although there are several waste management programs from local governments, community participation still needs to be improved. Through outreach and discussion methods involving various stakeholders, this study aims to increase community awareness and involvement in waste management. The results of the study show that increasing community participation, environmental awareness, and strengthening regulations and supporting facilities are very important to overcome the problem of plastic waste on the coast. This effort not only focuses on mitigating ecological impacts, but also on improving the welfare of local communities.
