IMPLEMENTASI PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER SEBAGAI INTI PEMBINAAN PESERTA DIDIK DI SMP MUHAMMADIYAH 17 SURABAYA

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi pendidikan karakter sebagai inti pembinaan peserta didik di SMP Muhammadiyah 17 Surabaya. Fokus penelitian diarahkan pada strategi guru dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai karakter, peran kegiatan ekstrakurikuler dan budaya sekolah, keterlibatan orang tua melalui komite sekolah, serta mekanisme evaluasi karakter yang diterapkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan subjek Humas sekolah sebagai informan utama. Sumber data diperoleh melalui interaksi wawancara, pengamatan situasional, serta dokumentasi. Setelah itu, bahan kajian dianalisis memakai pola kerja Miles dan Huberman yang terdiri atas tahap pemadatan data, pengonstruksian penyajian informasi, dan penetapan hasil simpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan karakter di sekolah diintegrasikan melalui kurikulum, keteladanan guru, kegiatan ekstrakurikuler, dan pembiasaan harian berbasis nilai religius, disiplin, serta tanggung jawab. Selain itu, keterlibatan orang tua dan komite sekolah memperkuat efektivitas program, sementara evaluasi dilakukan melalui pembiasaan ibadah dan pelaporan sikap siswa. Secara keseluruhan, implementasi pendidikan karakter di SMP Muhammadiyah 17 Surabaya sejalan dengan Profil Pelajar Pancasila dan berhasil membentuk lingkungan sekolah yang religius, berdisiplin, dan berbudaya positif.
This study aims to describe the implementation of character education as the core of student development at SMP Muhammadiyah 17 Surabaya. The research focuses on teachers’ strategies in instilling character values, the role of extracurricular activities and school culture, parental involvement through the school committee, and the applied character evaluation mechanisms. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with the public relations officer as the main informant. The data were obtained through interview interactions, situational observations, and document reviews. The collected materials were then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman framework, which consists of data condensation, the construction of information displays, and the formulation of final conclusions. The results show that character education in the school is integrated through the curriculum, teachers’ role modeling, extracurricular activities, and daily habituation based on religious, disciplined, and responsible values. Furthermore, parental and school committee involvement strengthens the program’s effectiveness, while evaluation is conducted through religious practices and behavioral reports. Overall, the implementation of character education at SMP Muhammadiyah 17 Surabaya aligns with the Profile of Pancasila Students and has successfully created a religious, disciplined, and positive school culture.
