IMPLEMENTASI MODEL PROJECT BASED LEARNING PADA MATA PELAJARAN ILMU PENGETAHUAN SOSIAL TERPADU DI KELAS VIII E SMP NEGERI 1 SRENGAT BLITAR

Pendidikan merupakan aspek penting dalam pembangunan bangsa yang melibatkan interaksi antara pendidik dan peserta didik. Mata pelajaran IPS Terpadu berperan dalam membentuk kemampuan berpikir kritis dan sikap sosial siswa. Namun, siswa kelas VIII E SMP Negeri 1 Srengat Blitar masih menghadapi rendahnya motivasi dan keaktifan belajar sehingga diperlukan strategi pembelajaran yang lebih inovatif, salah satunya melalui model Project Based Learning (PjBL). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi model Project Based Learning pada mata pelajaran IPS Terpadu, khususnya dalam meningkatkan keterlibatan, minat, dan pemahaman siswa melalui proyek yang kontekstual dan relevan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Observasi dilakukan pada proses pembelajaran di kelas VIII E, sedangkan wawancara dilakukan dengan guru IPS dan siswa untuk mengetahui efektivitas serta kendala penerapan model PjBL. Analisis data dilakukan melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model Project Based Learning mampu menciptakan suasana belajar yang lebih aktif, dinamis, dan interaktif. Kreativitas siswa meningkat melalui pengerjaan proyek sosial, kerja sama kelompok menjadi lebih baik, serta motivasi belajar siswa mengalami peningkatan yang terlihat dari berkurangnya sikap pasif selama pembelajaran berlangsung. Penerapan PjBL terbukti efektif karena menggunakan pendekatan konstruktivis yang mendorong siswa belajar secara mandiri dan aktif dalam menyelesaikan masalah sosial. Guru berperan sebagai fasilitator yang membantu siswa mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis, kerja sama, dan kemandirian belajar. Lingkungan belajar yang mendukung eksplorasi juga memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap hasil belajar siswa.Implementasi model Project Based Learning pada mata pelajaran IPS Terpadu berhasil meningkatkan minat dan hasil belajar siswa kelas VIII E SMP Negeri 1 Srengat Blitar. Keberhasilan tersebut dipengaruhi oleh proyek yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan karakteristik siswa. Oleh karena itu, sekolah disarankan untuk terus mendukung penerapan metode pembelajaran inovatif agar kualitas pembelajaran dan keterampilan siswa semakin berkembang.
Education is an important pillar of national development that involves interactions between educators and students. Integrated Social Sciences (IPS) subjects play a significant role in developing students’ critical thinking skills and social awareness. However, students of class VIII E at SMP Negeri 1 Srengat Blitar experienced low learning motivation and limited classroom participation, making innovative learning strategies necessary to improve learning outcomes. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in Integrated Social Sciences subjects, particularly in increasing student engagement, learning interest, and understanding through contextual projects related to daily life. The research used a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Observations were conducted during the learning process in class VIII E, while interviews with the IPS teacher and students explored the effectiveness and challenges of implementing the PjBL model. Data analysis involved data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings showed that the implementation of the Project Based Learning model created a more active, dynamic, and interactive classroom atmosphere. Students demonstrated increased creativity through social projects, improved teamwork, and higher learning motivation, as seen from the reduction of passive behavior during the learning process.The implementation of PjBL proved effective because it applied a constructivist approach that encouraged students to learn independently and actively solve social problems. Teachers acted as facilitators who guided students in developing critical thinking, collaboration, and independent learning skills. A supportive learning environment also contributed positively to improving student learning outcomes. The implementation of the Project Based Learning model in Integrated Social Sciences successfully improved the interest and learning outcomes of class VIII E students at SMP Negeri 1 Srengat Blitar. This success was influenced by project designs that matched students’ needs and characteristics. Therefore, schools are encouraged to support the application of innovative learning methods in other subjects to further enhance students’ skills and learning quality.
