GAYA KEPEMIMPINAN KETUA HMJ MATEMATIKA DALAM MENGELOLA ORGANISASI

Abstrak

Kepemimpinan merupakan faktor penting dalam pencapaian tujuan organisasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji gaya kepemimpinan Ketua Himpunan Mahasiswa Jurusan (HMJ) Matematika Universitas Negeri Medan. Dengan menggunakan metode wawancara dan observasi, ditemukan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan yang diterapkan cenderung demokratis dan kolektif. Ketua HMJ tidak menempatkan dirinya sebagai “bos”, tetapi sebagai bagian dari tim yang aktif dalam pengambilan keputusan bersama anggota. Kendala yang dihadapi bukan pada perbedaan visi, melainkan keterbatasan waktu anggota dalam melaksanakan kegiatan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan demokratis mampu menciptakan iklim organisasi yang inklusif, meskipun tetap diperlukan peningkatan koordinasi.

Leadership is a crucial factor in achieving organizational goals. This study aims to examine the leadership style of the Chair of the Mathematics Student Association (HMJ) at Medan State University. Using interviews and observation methods, it was found that the leadership style applied tends to be democratic and collective. The Chair of the HMJ does not position himself as the "boss," but rather as part of a team that actively participates in decision-making with members. The obstacle faced is not a difference in vision, but rather the members' limited time to carry out activities. The results of this study indicate that a democratic leadership style is capable of creating an inclusive organizational climate, although improved coordination is still needed.
