UPAYA MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA PERMULAAN SISWA DI KELAS 2 SD MELALUI METODE DEMONTRASI

This research aims to determine efforts to improve students' initial reading skills in class II elementary schools through demonstration methods. The research was prepared in the form of classroom action research using the Demonstration Research method. This research is collaborative in nature with the research sample being class II students at Cisitu Purabaya State Elementary School 2, with a total of 20 students. The number of male students is 10, the number of female students is 10. Meanwhile, the data collection technique used in this research is a direct observation technique with the data collection tool used in this research being a test and observation sheet consisting of illustrated reading text and letter cards. The results of the research showed an increase between Cycle I and Cycle II with efforts to improve initial reading skills using the demonstration method. In fact, what happened in cycle I was 63% complete and 37% incomplete. Furthermore, there was an increase after reflection in cycle I with changes to planning to Cycle II with the result being a completion percentage of 89% and the remaining 11% incomplete. This means that there are significant results in increasing students' initial reading skills by using this demonstration method.
