FORMULASI DAN UJI EFEKTIVITAS FACE MIST EKSTRAK DAUN MATOA (Pometia pinnata J.R & G. Forst) SEBAGAI ANTIOKSIDAN DENGAN METODE DPPH (1,1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl)

This study aimed to formulate and evaluate the antioxidant effectiveness of face mist containing matoa leaf extract (Pometia pinnata J.R & G. Forst) using the DPPH method. Three formulations were developed: F1 (1%), F2 (3%), and F3 (5%). Physical evaluations included organoleptic tests, pH, viscosity, homogeneity, drying time, and irritation, while antioxidant activity was determined based on IC₅₀ values. The results showed that the order of antioxidant activity from strongest to weakest was: vitamin C (3.146 ppm), Absolute face mist (7.866 ppm), F3 (10.431 ppm), F2 (10.445 ppm), F1 (10.461 ppm), pure matoa leaf extract (11.967 ppm), and F0 (22.459 ppm). All formulations containing the extract were classified as very strong antioxidants (IC₅₀ < 50 ppm). The hedonic test indicated that F3 was most preferred in terms of color, aroma, and softness, while F2 obtained the highest scores for sensation and moisture. It was concluded that F3 had the best antioxidant effectiveness, whereas F2 was superior in sensory aspects. Matoa leaf extract was considered to have potential to be formulated into a natural face mist with significant antioxidant activity and good consumer acceptability.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memformulasikan dan mengevaluasi efektivitas antioksidan face mist ekstrak daun matoa (Pometia pinnata J.R & G. Forst) menggunakan metode DPPH. Tiga formula dikembangkan, yaitu F1 (1%), F2 (3%), dan F3 (5%). Evaluasi fisik meliputi uji organoleptik, pH, viskositas, homogen, waktu kering, dan iritasi, sedangkan aktivitas antioksidan ditentukan berdasarkan nilai IC₅₀. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan urutan aktivitas antioksidan dari yang terkuat hingga terlemah adalah: vitamin C (3,146 ppm), face mist Absolute (7,866 ppm), F3 (10,431 ppm), F2 (10,445 ppm), F1 (10,461 ppm), ekstrak daun matoa murni (11,967 ppm), dan F0 (22,459 ppm). Seluruh formula dengan ekstrak masuk kategori antioksidan sangat kuat (IC₅₀ < 50 ppm). Uji hedonis menunjukkan bahwa F3 paling disukai dari segi warna, aroma, dan kelembutan, sedangkan F2 memperoleh skor tertinggi untuk sensasi dan kelembapan. Disimpulkan bahwa F3 memiliki efektivitas antioksidan terbaik, sementara F2 lebih unggul dalam aspek sensori. Ekstrak daun matoa berpotensi diformulasikan sebagai face mist alami dengan aktivitas antioksidan signifikan dan penerimaan konsumen yang baik.
