This analysis was carried out by collecting data through questionnaires filled out by students from various locations in North Sumatra. The research results show that the majority of students often use slang in daily conversations, with several everyday terms being the most frequently used. However, there are also experiences where the use of slang is considered inappropriate or rude, especially in formal situations such as in the classroom. However, the use of slang is also believed to strengthen friendship and unity between friends. The influence of popular culture and mass media is also an important factor in the spread of slang among students. Through films, music and social media, new foreign language terms accepted in everyday conversation quickly spread among students. Overall, slang is not only a means of communication, but also a symbol of social change and group bonds among young people.
