Abstrak

This research intends to examine how the labor force participation rate (LFPR) affects poverty levels in West Sumatra Province. The study utilizes secondary data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), which includes data on LFPR and poverty levels over a defined timeframe. A quantitative approach is employed, utilizing simple linear regression analysis to assess the relationship between the independent variable (LFPR) and the dependent variable (poverty level). The findings reveal that LFPR significantly influences poverty levels in West Sumatra. An increase in LFPR tends to reduce poverty levels, especially when accompanied by improvements in job quality and access to formal employment opportunities. This finding highlights the critical role of an active labor force in poverty alleviation efforts. Based on these findings, it is recommended that local governments enhance job training programs and vocational education to improve workforce quality. Additionally, optimizing policies that support the creation of productive job opportunities and ensuring fair wages for workers is essential. This study is expected to contribute to more effective policy planning to reduce poverty levels in West Sumatra.
