Abstrak

The development of digital technology in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 has brought significant transformation in the field of education, including Islamic Religious Education (PAI). Generation Z and Generation Alpha, known as digital natives, possess unique characteristics such as being critical, multitasking, visually oriented, and highly familiar with digital technology. These conditions demand innovations in PAI learning to remain relevant, interactive, and contextual. This study aims to analyze the forms of digital-based innovation in PAI learning, its impact on learning effectiveness, and the challenges encountered in its implementation.The findings indicate that digital innovation in PAI can be implemented through the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS), Islamic digital applications, interactive multimedia content, gamification, as well as immersive technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). These innovations have been proven to enhance student motivation, learning flexibility, collaboration, and strengthen the internalization of Islamic values across cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Furthermore, digital innovation also supports the development of 21st-century skills, including digital literacy, critical thinking, and social tolerance. Nevertheless, the implementation of digital-based innovation in PAI faces several challenges, such as the digital divide, limited digital literacy among educators, and the spread of negative online content. Therefore, a holistic strategy is required to ensure that digital learning is not only academically effective but also capable of shaping moderate Islamic character aligned with contemporary needs. In this regard, digital-based innovation in PAI can serve as a strategic solution in shaping a religious, tolerant, and adaptive young generation in the global era.
