Abstrak

Fresh water maker reverse osmosis adalah suatu permesinan bantu yang memiliki fungsi memproduksi air tawar dengan mengubah air laut menjadi air tawar dengan melalui proses filtrasi dimana air laut memasuki membrane semi permeabel yang terdapat pada fresh water maker dengan tekanan tinggi, air laut yang mengandung larutan padat seperti mineral dan bakteri akan tersaring dan tertinggal dibelakang karena pemisahan aliran terbalik dan akan dibuang menuju overboard air ini disebut reject water. Fresh Water Maker Reverse Osmosis sendiri merupakan salah satu permesinan bantu yang terdapat diatas kapal terutama pada kapal berjenis Floating Crane, permesinan ini memiliki peran yang sangat penting dalam memenuhi kebutuhan air bersih diatas kapal. Terdapat beberapa permasalahan pada fresh water maker seperti kualitas air hasil produksi kurang baik, jumlah produksi air tawar menurun, beberapa komponen mengalami kerusakan. Pada penelitian ini berfokus pada kerusakan membrane reverse osmosis atau disebut juga semi-permeable kerusakan pada membrane ini dapat disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor yaitu faktor alam, manusia dan mekanis dimana masing-masing faktor penyebab tersebut memiliki dampak buruk bagi fresh water maker dalam memproduksi air tawar seperti yang telah disebutkan sebelumnya.

Damage to this membrane can be caused by several factors, namely natural, human and mechanical factors where each of these causative factors has a negative impact on fresh water maker in producing fresh water as previously mentioned.
