PERBEDAAN PENGARUH BRISK WALKING DAN MINDFULNESS WALKING TERHADAP TEKANAN DARAH PADA LANSIA

Abstrak

Hipertensi merupakan penyakit tidak menular yang menjadi masalah kesehatan global, terutama pada populasi lansia. Pengelolaan tekanan darah melalui pendekatan non-farmakologis seperti aktivitas fisik menjadi pilihan yang aman dan efektif. Brisk Walking dan Mindfulness Walking merupakan dua intervensi berjalan yang berpotensi menurunkan tekanan darah namun belum banyak dibandingkan efektivitasnya secara langsung pada lansia hipertensi di Indonesia. Tujuan: Mengetahui perbedaan pengaruh Brisk Walking dan Mindfulness Walking terhadap tekanan darah pada lansia hipertensi. Metode: Penelitian kuasi eksperimental dengan desain pre-test post-test two group design. Sampel berjumlah 22 lansia hipertensi di BPSTW Budi Luhur Bantul yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok: kelompok Brisk Walking (n=11) dan kelompok Mindfulness Walking (n=11). Intervensi dilakukan 2 kali per minggu selama 4 minggu. Pengukuran tekanan darah menggunakan sphygmomanometer. Analisis data menggunakan Wilcoxon Rank Test dan Mann-Whitney Test. Hasil: Brisk Walking berpengaruh signifikan terhadap penurunan tekanan darah sistolik (p=0,003) namun tidak signifikan pada diastolik (p=0,109). Mindfulness Walking juga berpengaruh signifikan terhadap sistolik (p=0,003) namun tidak signifikan pada diastolik (p=0,167). Tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua intervensi baik pada sistolik (p=0,247) maupun diastolik (p=0,622). Kesimpulan: Brisk Walking dan Mindfulness Walking keduanya efektif menurunkan tekanan darah sistolik pada lansia hipertensi, namun tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara keduanya, sehingga kedua intervensi dapat dijadikan pilihan non-farmakologis yang setara.

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that is a global health problem, especially among the older adults. Managing blood pressure through non-pharmacological approaches such as physical activity is a safe and effective option. Brisk Walking and Mindfulness Walking are two walking interventions that have the potential to lower blood pressure, but their effectiveness has not been directly compared in hypertensive older adults in Indonesia. Objective: To determine the differences in the effects of Brisk Walking and Mindfulness Walking on blood pressure in older adults with hypertension. Method: This is a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test, post-test, two-group design. The sample consisted of 22 older adults with hypertension at the Budi Luhur Bantul Social Service Center for Older Persons (BPSTW-Balai Pelayanan Sosial Tresna Werdha). The sample was divided into two groups; the Brisk Walking group (n=11) and the Mindfulness Walking group (n=11). The intervention was conducted twice a week for 4 weeks. Blood pressure was measured using a sphygmomanometer. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Rank Test and the Mann- Whitney Test. Results: Brisk Walking significantly reduced systolic blood pressure (p=0.003) but not significantly reduced diastolic blood pressure (p=0.109). Mindfulness Walking also significantly reduced systolic blood pressure (p=0.003) but not significantly reduced diastolic blood pressure (p=0.167). There was no significant difference between the two interventions in either systolic (p=0.247) or diastolic (p=0.622) blood pressure. Conclusion: Brisk Walking and Mindfulness Walking are both effective in lowering systolic blood pressure in older adults with hypertension; and there is no significant difference between the two. Therefore, both interventions can be considered equivalent non-pharmacological options.
