AKTUALISASI DIRI TOKOH DEWI AYU DALAM NOVEL CANTIK ITU LUKA KARYA EKA KURNIAWAN: PERSPEKTIF MASLOW

Abstrak

Berdasarkan teori hierarki kebutuhan Abraham Maslow, penelitian ini menyelidiki kebutuhan psikologis tokoh perempuan yang digambarkan dalam buku Eka Kurniawan yang berjudul Cantik Itu Luka. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif berdasarkan literatur yang telah diterbitkan dalam bidang psikologi. Menurut analisis, tokoh perempuan menghadapi kesulitan memenuhi kebutuhan fisiologis dan rasa aman mereka karena tekanan sosial, historis, dan kultural. Selain itu, struktur patriarki sering menghalangi kebutuhan untuk penghargaan, aktualisasi diri, dan cinta. Namun, beberapa karakter masih berusaha memenuhi kebutuhan psikologis mereka. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa teori Maslow berguna untuk memahami motivasi dan kompleksitas psikologis tokoh perempuan dalam novel, serta bagaimana konteks sosial dan historis memengaruhi perjalanan mereka menuju aktualisasi diri.

Based on Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory, this study investigates the psychological needs of female characters depicted in Eka Kurniawan's book entitled Cantik itu Luka. The method used is qualitative descriptive research based on literature published in the field of psychology. According to the analysis, the female characters face difficulties in fulfilling their physiological and safety needs due to social, historical, and cultural pressures. Furthermore, the patriarchal structure often obstructs the fulfillment of their esteem, self-actualization, and love needs. However, some characters still strive to meet their psychological needs. These results indicate that Maslow's theory is useful for understanding the motivations and psychological complexities of female characters in the novel, as well as how social and historical contexts influence their journey toward self-actualization.
